Fracking water consumption underestimated, says report

A new report by the Environmental Working Group, investigating the levels of water required for fracking at “monster wells”, a phrase coined to describe those most “thirsty”, has suggested that singular wells have consumed up to 25 million gallons of water.

Some of the wells identified as the highest consumers and contaminators of water have been located in zones suffering droughts or water shortages.
